NICK MARCIANO'Due south GREATEST EXPERIENCES & MEMORIES with GRANDMASTER RAFAEL RESTON & JKMA ( KEMPO )

I'1000 a native of Baguio Urban center, Northern part of the Philippines. I remember when I was a child, I really want to be a soldier or a policeman to protect and serve the people and my country. When I graduated from elementary, I went to my mom in Angeles City. She works in ane of the hotels located in Balibago. I decided to continue my Loftier school in Angeles City. In my starting time & 2d year in high school, I never call up of learning Martial Arts. I was in my third year when a classmate of mine is telling stories that he'south attention a Karate class somewhere in Balibago. I became interested to encounter this Karate Schoolhouse. After course, I went with my classmate for his Karate Lesson & to encounter the gym. There are Filipinos and Americans practicing when we arrived. I commencement saw Master Reston within His small shop simply I didn't know He's the Primary and owner of the gym. Subsequently class, my friend introduced Chief Reston to me and told Principal Reston I'thou interested in joining the group. He told me, Skillful!

July 1985, my starting time twenty-four hours in class at the gym, Master Reston came in the gym, chosen me and let me sit in front of Him. He asked if I'1000 really interested in learning Karate because He told me it'southward not a joke to learn the Art. I answered Him yes. He told me the sacrifices that I must exercise during the practice. The Rules and Regulations within the Dojo during and after practice. That's my start 24-hour interval form in the gym. Master Reston, never told me His the Primary and owner of the gym, His Rank, where did He larn and practice the Art. Everyday subsequently schoolhouse at v:00 pm, I get direct to the gym for practice. I asked Master Reston if information technology'south ok with him, I will go to the gym everyday and practise because my schedule with Him is three times a calendar week. He said ok and He asked the other Instructors (His Black belt Students and other Instructors of dissimilar styles ) if I tin can join during their practise time. Master Reston accustomed all Instructors who wanted to teach their own art in the gym and let them fill up and sign membership forms without paying anything, in other gyms they have to pay Instructors membership and Association membership fees.. In Angeles City, there are many Instructors of Karate with unlike styles who don't have a proper place or gym to teach that's why they come up to Main Reston and asked His permission to teach in His Dojo. Master Reston NEVER REJECTED THEM and NEVER ASKED FAVORS FROM THEM. Considering of this, Master Reston founded the JUDO KARATE MASTERS ( KEMPO ) ASSOCIATION formerly the Manchurian Kempo Karate. I connected practicing for months until Main Reston told me that I will exist having a exam for promotion to the side by side higher Belt in Karate, Light-green Belt (afterward White Belt or Beginners Belt ).

January 1986 when I received my Dark-green Belt from Master Reston. I connected practicing and joining Karate Tournaments until my Blackness belt times. I got trophies and medals from winning the tournaments and experienced also loosing. Primary Reston told me, if you win, That'southward Swell and If You Lose That's as well Nifty. That time during tournaments, there are fighters who don't accept loosing. There are a fighter who recall they were cheated thatsouthward why they lost. In that location are incidents that adulterous occurs, particularly if the fighter is the student of the referee or the judges. I experienced beingness cheated in the tournaments for how many times just accustomed it because I cannot do anything about it. The referee or the judges will not contrary their decisions. I didn't knew that one of the well known Karate Instructors in Angeles City ( COMJUKA Instructor, Sensei Bart Figueroa ) had observed my good mental attitude during tournaments. I never forget when ane of His promotions to higher belts for His students, He invited other gym Instructors including me. He awarded me the SPORTSMANSHIP Laurels in front of His Students and Instructors. I spoke in forepart of the instructors and students and told them, this is only "Ane OF THE MANY VALUABLE THINGS I'VE LEARNED FROM MASTER RESTON".

September 1986, I received my Brown Chugalug from Master Reston. I nonetheless connected practicing and joining tournaments. After two years, October 1988, I received my 1st. Dan Blackness belt from Master Reston. He promoted me direct to 1st. Dan Black belt. Afterwards school hours, I become to the gym to practice and teach students & joining tournaments if not busy in school. That fourth dimension, Principal Reston only teach occasionally due to his wellness. Before going to Hawaii in 1992, Master Reston promoted me to 2nd. Dan Black belt and Appointed me as Chief Teacher of KEMPO. Subsequently graduation from college in 1993, I became busy until I got a job equally Sales & Application Engineer. I was not active in teaching Karate for vii years but I attended meetings with swain Instructors & members for the organization that time. It was yr 2000 when Master Reston formally gave me my 3rd. Dan Blackness belt. That yr, I was teaching His two grandsons from His son Romy & His grandsondue south cousins.

Primary Reston is more often than not respected with regards to Martial Arts by many Filipinos and Americans and likewise the people who knew Him in the community during those years and even until now. Master Reston is a Respected & Very Adept Friend, Father, Gramps, Instructor and Primary of Martial Arts. He's always in a low profile mental attitude. In Karate, He never scolded and tell bad deeds to His students. He always talk in soft and good words to anyone who did something incorrect, His students and anybody in the community during his fourth dimension equally Community Chairman. Master Reston was a former military machine man and Master of Martial Arts simply He never acted as one. What I mean is that, He never talked/spoke to anyone in War machine way/attitude, as a Leader and every bit a Master of Martial Arts.

I've learned lot of valuable things from Him that I will never forget in my unabridged life and I volition value information technology forever. I actually missed those times every afternoon nosotros are in that location outside His business firm telling stories with each other. I ever mind to Him telling his life experiences since His childhood days until the second World War came and the time He and Mrs. Reston came to Angeles Metropolis. This is just the outset of my story of knowing Primary Reston. I hope I will have convenient time in the future to brand a documentary for united states of america equally Friends, Him equally my Instructor/ Main, and My Grandfather.
